A big year for Entertainment on Sky

2014 is going to be a big year for Entertainment on Sky.

Yesterday we announced that Lennie James from The Walking Dead will be leading the cast for ultra-realistic real-time medical drama Critical, and just last week we announced the line-up for Fortitude - our most ambitious production to date. I can’t wait for you to see Fortitude. It’s an epic thriller, set in the Arctic Circle, starring incredible names such as The Killing’s Sofie Gråbøl and Hollywood favourite Stanley Tucci in his first British TV role.

Critical and Fortitude are on top of some great shows already set to hit our screens from next month.

For Sky 1 HD we have The Smoke - a high octane drama set in a fire station starring Jodie Whittaker and Jamie Bamber, from the award winning producers of Spooks. For a mid-week treat on Sky Atlantic HD, we’ve got Fleming – a lavish original drama about the life of Bond creator Ian Fleming, starring Dominic Cooper and Lara Pulver.

Also on Sky Atlantic HD on February, we’ve True Detective from HBO, with Golden Globe® winner Matthew McConaughey and Academy Award® nominee Woody Harrelson in the lead roles as cops out to solve a serial murder. The series promises to be one of those big critical hits that HBO are famous for, it having already garnered widespread acclaim in the US.  It is absolutely brilliant.

Later in the year, the award winning Olivia Colman will star with Nick Frost in Mr Sloane, the first original British project to be written and directed by Curb Your Enthusiasm producer director Robert B Weide. It’s sweet, naughty, innocent and very very funny.

Of course those shows we’ve all fallen in love with will be back, including International Emmy® Award winning comedy Moone Boy and Emmy®, Golden Globe® and most recently BAFTA® Award winning drama, Game of Thrones. We are going to go massive with it.

So for our biggest ever year of entertainment it makes sense that we market it in a huge and surprising way.

From this Saturday, for the first time ever, everyone in the UK and Ireland will be able to watch the first episodes or first scenes of some of our award winning home grown shows and the best of the US on our new YouTube channel, Sky First Episodes.

From world class dramas and award-winning comedies to the very best factual and entertainment series, we’ve got an amazing line up across our portfolio in 2014. So if you are on YouTube this weekend checking out the latest cat viral, have a look at Sky First Episodes and see the best of what we’ve got to offer.
