A classic F1 season
A classic F1 season
There is no doubt that this season has been a classic. What made it so special was just how unpredictable the racing was; the first seven races had seven different winners – we never knew what would happen next. Having six world champions on the grid has been immense – they’re two a penny, these world champions! I think it’s generally accepted however that there are three drivers ahead of the rest: Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso; those three managed to outperform their cars in almost every race and that made great television for us on Sky Sports F1 HD.
After nearly three decades as a Formula One driver and broadcaster I’m so pleased I made the decision to join Sky’s dedicated F1 channel. It’s been the busiest year I’ve had working in the sport but also one of the most enjoyable. Sky has done everything they promised me, and more - we have the necessary creative energy and resource to deliver 14 hours of live coverage per GP weekend, over 80 hours of programming per race, and a 24/7 F1 channel.
As Formula 1 faces up to a fast-changing sporting and media landscape, Sky Sports F1 HD has all the multi-media bases covered – like the capability to watch live on your phone with Sky Go and the amazing Race Control app which keeps you up to speed with a myriad of relevant data, all with a world class team. And me!
I hope you all enjoy what is sure to be a thrilling final race this weekend in Brazil and I look forward to whatever next season may bring.
