Here at Sky it’s always a great privilege to work with the best of news, sport and entertainment and, by extension, some of the world’s brightest stars.
As a sports fan, seeing our advert with our new Sky ambassador David Beckham come together over the past few weeks has been a real highlight for me.
As our managing director of Sky Sports Barney Francis wrote on this blog back in April, we’ve all been thrilled to welcome David to Sky, not least because he represents so many of the values that define our brand.
Our team found the shoot for David’s ad to be a lot of fun. We worked to some tight deadlines and were given a lot of scope to think creatively about our choice of locations and the production of some elaborate sets. The use of multiple Beckhams, while technically tricky, really allowed us to demonstrate the full Sky experience in a simple yet creative way.
We do everything we can to make the experience of watching sport as easy and straightforward as possible, no matter where our customers are. Sky Sports in HD, 3D and on Sky Go provides customers with the opportunity to enjoy the action on their terms, with technology fitting around their own lives. Throw in our unrivalled sports rights and coverage, and it's an unbeatable combination.
In thinking about what we wanted to achieve with the ad, we started by focusing on our customers. We decided to explore a day in the life of a Sky customer, in this case, a certain Mr Beckham. Like most of our customers, David has a pretty hectic schedule, so we thought he’d be the perfect person to demonstrate the many ways that Sky Sports can fit in around our lives, whether it be at home on the TV, on-the-move via a smartphone or through other mobile devices when we just want to quickly catch up on the latest replay, news or score.
As we look ahead to our biggest ever Premier League season, we’re excited to be delivering 116 games – more than ever before – to our customers using the latest and most innovative technology. We’re constantly looking for new ways to get our customers closer to the action. As we continue to extend our leadership in sport, we’re looking forward to continuing working with David to tell our story.
