Carbon Trust recertification

At Sky we’ve been focusing on tackling our environmental impact since 2005. In July 2012 we reported good progress towards our environment targets that were set in 2009 meeting six of our ten targets this year ahead of schedule.

Our improvements in efficiency reflect the long-term investments we have made in our buildings, fleet and travel, and is further reflected in Sky’s retention of The Carbon Trust Standard again this year for the third time. The Carbon Trust Standard was launched in 2008 to encourage good practice in carbon measurement, management and reduction by businesses and public sector organisations. The Standard recognises organisations for carbon reduction, being awarded to companies who measure, manage and reduce their carbon footprint in an open and consistent way and are committed to making reductions year on year.

Sky was one of the first companies to achieve the Carbon Trust Standard and also one of the earliest companies to successfully achieve the first recertification in 2012. To find out how we aim to reduce our impacts on the environment in the future you can visit our interactive targets page here.
