Children make inspiring news clip about saving the rainforest

Last week 28 pupils from St. Mark’s Primary School in Wigan made a special trip to Sky Skills Studios to record their very own news clip about saving the Amazonian rainforest as part of their Sky Rainforest Rescue Schools Challenge Grand Prize. The children, many of who had never been to London before, came with special props and costumes they’d made including an elephant and two monkey suits to bring their inspiring news report to life.
St. Mark’s won the Grand Prize in Sky Rainforest Rescue Schools Challenge for activities which included surveying 372 people about their environmentally friendly habits, hosting a Fair Trade coffee morning, a fashion show using plastic bags for materials and writing 109 blog posts about their activities.
The Sky Rainforest Rescue Schools Challenge is a brilliant free interactive online programme for school children aged 11-14 that culminates in the Grant Prize to win £1000 With three great Challenge topics to choose from - the Food We Eat, the Stuff We Buy and the Energy We Use - schools plan and carry out tasks to help children learn about the rainforest and how through their own actions at home and at school they can protect the environment.
