Christmas starts on Sky 1 HD with All Star Christmas Presents
December 2012 on Sky 1 HD
It just wouldn't be Christmas without another helping of Sky 1 HD's festive favourite. Sally Lindsay and her team of celebrity friends deliver money can’t buy presents, recognising and rewarding the country's most deserving individuals. In keeping with tradition, this seasonal special is more warming than a mug or two of mulled wine, packed with extraordinary stories of bravery, compassion and kindness.
This year's participants include Angela from Wirral, an inspirational mum who never gives up, turning grief and turmoil into strength and compassion. After losing her daughter Charlotte in a tragic car accident, Angela has been on hand to help families cope in similar circumstances, setting up a registered charity in her daughter’s name. Sally Lindsay and Sky 1 HD have teamed up to give Angela the surprise of her life, taking her wing walking and lending a hand with her latest charitable endeavour.
Alice and Liam from Scunthorpe, have been together for nearly 3 years after meeting at a New Year’s Eve party. Last year Liam was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer Osteosarcoma and doctors have now told him that despite treatment his cancer is now terminal. For this reason, the couple decided to bring their 2014 wedding forward to October 2012 and as a result the community have rallied around and decided to play wedding planners with a little help from All Star Christmas Presents and a few famous faces. The entire wedding has been donated by local businesses and individuals meaning that their dream of getting married has become a reality.
Last, but by no means least is Frank from East London, Britain’s biggest community worker. By day Frank works as an outreach worker for a children’s centre where he helps deprived families with their day to day struggles from homelessness to job applications, by night he works tirelessly on projects close to his heart. His biggest passion is juggling and Frank organises workshops for disabled adults and the elderly. In addition Frank has also volunteered with reading groups at local schools and set up a Saturday club to provide a space for children to spend time with fathers that they don’t live with, he works as a street warden patrolling to keep the area safe and also teaches boxercise classes. In May 2010 Frank was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, the cancer had spread from his lymph nodes through his body and is incurable. Sky 1 HD is on a mission this Christmas to reward Britain’s most selfless man, including a trip to Las Vegas to have juggling lessons with Cirque Du Soleil.
All Star Christmas Presents is on Sky 1 HD this December 2012, hosted by Sally Lindsay, featuring and rewarding incredible individuals from all over the country. Expect heart-warming surprises galore, as well as a raft of special studio guests, as Sally brings everything together for one magical night.
Sally Lindsay comments: “This Christmas is going to be truly special as we travel the country surprising people in some unusual places with some spectacular set ups. I’m delighted to play a small part in making their dreams come true.”
All Star Christmas Presents is on Sky 1 HD, Sky 1 + 1 and available on the move with Sky Go.
