Dance Illusion, Boyband and Bitter Harvest win first public vote and dance into Sky 1HD’s Got To Dance live final

25th August 2014: In tonight’s first live semi-final for Sky 1HD’s Got To Dance, viewers saw Ashley Banjo’s team go under the spotlight. A mix of street artists, commercial and contemporary groups plus a classical ballet duo battled it out for a place in Friday’s live finals. The public vote resulted in contemporary theatre dancers, Dance Illusion; street dancers, Boyband and classical ballet dancers, Bitter Harvest qualifying for places in the live final (Friday 29th August) and the opportunity to compete for the prize of a quarter of a million pounds. Turbo & Godson, Sharifa and Rella Nation all bowed out of the contest this evening.

Despite Boyband losing their fifth member only a few days ago, AshleyBanjo said, “you did not crack, you pulled it off. I’m so proud.” Of dancingwithout Corey, Boyband member Mikey said, “without Corey it’s not the same,it was the hardest thing in the world.”

A performance that Kimberly Wyatt described as “a Vegas worthy productionof epic proportions” won Scotland’s twenty strong Dance Illusion a placein Friday’s final.

The eldest dancers in the competition, Shannon and Peter Parker, collectivelyBitter Harvest earned the praise of Adam Garcia with; “sometimes experiencereally does show. Not only was that a lesson in technique, it was a lessonin performance. I can see how much you love each other – and love dance.I was smiling the entire time. It was just delightful.”

Rella Nation and Turbo & Godson were the only acts not to receivethree gold stars from the judges.

Adam gave Rella Nation a red star stating: “there’s no doubt that youguys can really dance but comparatively you didn’t hit me as hard as someof the other acts.” Kimberly also gave Turbo & Godson a red star –saying: “you’re both exceptional dancers and I loved the elements but overallI didn’t feel it.” Turbo stood up to Kimberly saying, “you must have seenfrom the auditions how much we have stepped up?” Ashley Banjo further supportedthem saying: “I don’t need to say anything because 6000 people just saidit for me” referring to the cheering crowd in Earl’s Court, adding “thisis international dance talent.”

Tonight’s show also saw Ashley Banjo take to the stage with his dancegroup, Diversity. They wowed the crowd joined by live gospel choir, UrbanVoices - with an energetic routine to a mash up of Justin Timberlake’sCry Me A River.

Tomorrow night all six acts from Kimberly’s team will each take to thestage, as they battle it out for a place in the Got To Dance grand final.Original Kidz, Kofi, Academy of Base, Kaner, Kaine and last year’s finalistsIMD will fight for the viewers’ votes.
