Fiona Ball recognised as a Game Changer

Fiona Ball, Head of Environment and Engagement, has been recognised as a Business in the Community Game Changer. This one off award was created to recognise the inspirational individuals working behind the scenes to advance the responsible business movement.

Business in the Community (BitC) said, “BitC is now in its 30th year of campaigning on responsible business issues and working with our members to transform their businesses and communities. Yet we are only able to make a difference to business behaviour because of the people like you from across our membership who continually push the boundaries and challenge their organisations to do more.”

Fiona has been working at Sky for the past 8 years and has worked to lead Sky’s sustainability strategy. From Sky becoming the first Carbon Neutral media company in 2006 to creating the most sustainability broadcast facility in Europe last year, Fiona has been a key driving force to ensure Sky is a responsibility business working with the local community and looking at long term success.

The award was presented last night at BitC’s Annual General Meeting. Our Bigger Picture Director, Lucy Carver also spoke at the event about Sky’s involvement with Arts & Business and why we believe that investing in the arts is important in building stronger and more resilient communities. Lucy explained, “At Sky, we understand the essential role that the arts play in the cultural life of the UK and Ireland. We’re investing to showcase the best of the arts on screen through 2 dedicated channels that are now watched by over 6.8m viewers every month. But to us it’s more than investing on screen. We’re also supporting new and innovative art works through a multimillion pound investment with arts organisations and in young artists – our Sky Arts Ignition Series.
