Global Accessibility Awareness Day
Global Accessibility Awareness Day
We’re celebrating Global Accessibility Awareness Day today at Sky. Here our Director of eExperience Wendy Schratz talks about the work she’s leading to ensure Sky.com is accessible for everyone.
In Sky’s Customer Service Group and eExperience team our vision is to offer the best service in the country and make the customer’s experience through e channels brilliantly easy. We’re always looking for new ways that we can help customers to get the most from Sky and a key challenge I’ve set my team is how we can keep making sure every customer’s experience of Sky is an outstanding one. And when I say every customer I really do mean every customer, and this includes those with disabilities.
I believe that we shouldn’t inadvertently put barriers in place that prevent disabled people from accessing all the innovative products, content, service and support that we offer and there’s a very simple reason for this; it means that more customers can get more from us. This is especially important as we know that entertainment and communication platforms are more and more important in our customers’ daily lives, and I’m sure many reading this blog are also aware that the proportion of the population that are older and disabled is likely to grow over time.
For us making our products and services inclusive is the right thing to do for customers and makes good business sense. That’s why we’ve started a piece of work to audit how easy it is for people with disabilities to use all the various elements of Sky.com and why we’re committed to making improvements based on the findings. We’ve designed this piece of work in a way that will help us to keep building the accessibility expertise that we have in our eExperience and technology teams so that in future we can design and develop our web services to be inclusive of those with disabilities from launch.
Ultimately, getting online accessibility right helps to make our eExperiences better for all customers and in turn supports our vision of providing the best service in the country.
