London, Monday 16 January 2012:  Fresh from last night’s victory at the Golden Globes®, Sky 1 HD has confirmed the launch of brand new episodes of the multi-award winning MODERN FAMILY in late February 2012. Picking up a second consecutive win for Best Series (Musical or Comedy) at the prestigious awards ceremony in Beverly Hills on Sunday night, the 11 time Emmy® Award winner returns as part of Sky 1 HD’s ‘Comedy Friday’ block in Week 8 (Fridays at 8.00pm).

MODERN FAMILY was an immediate critical and commercial success when it launched in September 2009. The series is often lauded as revitalising the television sitcom in the U.S. where it attracts 18 million viewers a week and is the No. 1 show on television.

In the first episode of the new series, Lifetime Supply, Phil (Emmy winner Ty Burrell) automatically jumps to conclusions and starts saying his goodbyes after having a doctor's visit, but then missing the call with his test results. Meanwhile, Javier (guest star Benjamin Bratt) pops up unannounced again and takes Manny (Rico Rodriguez) to the horse races for a belated birthday celebration, and a subtle competition ensues when Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) brings home an environmental law award and it becomes a game of who has the bigger trophy.

MODERN FAMILY will air as part of Sky 1 HD’s ‘Comedy Friday,’ playing alongside brand new episodes of THE MIDDLE (Fridays at 7.30pm), which Variety recently described as a ‘perennially underappreciated sitcom,’ and Ruth Jones’ comedy series STELLA (Fridays at 9.00pm) which Heat calls ‘funny, clever and totally believable.’
