FIRST TX: Sky News, Friday 24th August, 7:30pm

LONDON, Wednesday 22nd August 2012:
On Friday 24th August at 7:30pm, Sky News will broadcast a special documentary: Born Bankrupt. The half-hour programme will be hosted by Sky News Business Presenter, Jeff Randall and will investigate the level of the nation’s debt and its burden on future generations.

At a time of economic uncertainty, Jeff examines how children born today will shoulder the burden of re-paying the nation’s debt, whilst their parents and grandparents enjoy the benefits.

Gaining insight from industry experts, Jeff questions whether babies born today will have the opportunity to attend university, purchase a house or afford retirement. Interviewees include Director General of the Institute of Economic Affairs, Mark Littlewood, the Director if the Institute of Fiscal Studies, Paul Johnson and Director-General of the Saga Group, Dr. Ros Altmann.

Chris Birkett, Executive Editor of Sky News said “This programme sees Jeff Randall investigate the severity of the nation’s debt and its impact upon future generations. This is yet another hard-hitting documentary from Jeff which pulls no punches in assessing just how tough the current economic downturn is.”

Born Bankrupt is the latest in a series of documentaries produced by Sky News and will also be available on Sky Anytime and Sky News for iPad.
