MODERN FAMILY wins Royal Television Society Awards

Golden Globes® and Emmy® winner MODERN FAMILY last night added a Royal Television Society award to its long list of accolades. The Sky 1 comedy picked up the award for Best International Series at a prestigious awards ceremony at London’s Grosvenor Hotel last night beating stiff competition from The Killing (BBC4) and The Slap (BBC3).

The jury commended the series commenting that MODERN FAMILY is A smart, superbly constructed and unpretentiously conceived comedy which is simply very funny.”

The Royal Television SocietyAwards are the gold standard of achievement in the television community. Each year their seven Awards ceremonies recognise excellence across the entire range of programme making and broadcasting skills. The Programme Awards Committee is chaired by David Liddiment.

MODERN FAMILY was an immediate critical and commercial success when it launched in September 2009. The series is often lauded as revitalising the television sitcom in the U.S. where it attracts 18 million viewers a week and is the No. 1 show on television.  The brand new season is currently airing as part of Sky 1 HD’s ‘Comedy Friday’ block at 8.00pm and is available on the move on Sky Go.

In this week’s new episode (Friday at 8pm, Sky 1 HD), Aunt Mommy, Phil (Emmy® winner Ty Burrell) and Claire (Julie Bowen) take Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Emmy® winner Eric Stonestreet) out after closing on the sale of a house to their friends. The celebratory dinner takes a bad turn when the group over-indulge in drinks leading to some over-sharing, and finally results in waking up the next morning hung over and begging the question - if you'll do anything for family, shouldn't there still be a line drawn somewhere?

MODERN FAMILY also stars Ed O’Neill as Jay, Sofía Vergara as Gloria, Sarah Hyland as Haley, Nolan Gould as Luke, Ariel Winter as Alex, Rico Rodriguez as Manny and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons as Lily.

MODERN FAMILY
is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television in association with Levitan Lloyd Productions. Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd are executive producers/creators.
