New Sky Hub delivers Parental Controls for all new Broadband customers
Last week we launched the Sky Hub, our brand new in house Broadband router. It has a stylish new look with simplicity and reliability at its core.
Lyssa McGowan, Director of Communications Products at Sky, comments: “Designed and built exclusively for Sky customers, this state-of-the-art router delivers unbeatable wireless range throughout the home meaning customers can get online in parts of their home they couldn’t before. Further enhancing the complete Sky experience, customers will benefit from greater connectivity, whether they’re enjoying Sky Go in the garden, checking Facebook in the bedroom or interacting with zeebox on the sofa.”
We also recognise that Sky has a role to play in online safety, and we know this is really important to our customers, many of whom are parents. Our free parental controls are a great tool for Sky Broadband customers to use to limit the types of content children can access on the internet. To make it as easy as possible, we now present all new Sky Broadband customers with an automatic or ‘active’ choice to install parental controls when they first install their Broadband, in line with a Government-endorsed Code of Practice, which all major ISPs committed to.
However, we want to do even more to help Sky customers take control over the content accessible through their Sky services and we also recognise that technology is not the only solution. Research suggests parents really value tools like parental controls and use them alongside a wide range of good parenting techniques, like setting clear rules for internet use and talking to their children about inappropriate content and behavioral issues like cyberbullying.
