New Social Value Hub launched by Sky and 2degrees

2degrees has teamed up with Sky to launch a brand new online hub where companies and organisations can talk about how best to create value in the communities where they live and work.
The new Social Value Hub is the latest innovative collaboration platform offered by 2degrees, the world’s largest community of 36,000 sustainable business professionals. It will make knowledge-sharing easy and showcase the very best case studies, interviews and news, giving insight into what organisations are doing to create social value.
Sky, Britain and Ireland’s leading home entertainment and communications provider, has been making real progress on understanding the value created by initiatives such as Sky Sports Living for Sport, part of Sky Academy. Now in one third of all secondary schools, it uses sports stars and sports skills to help build confidence and life skills, with results showing improvements in attitudes to learning and self-confidence.
Sharing the learnings of the last decade, Sky will support the 2degrees channel, helping to lead the debate as well as encouraging others to tell their stories about how they are measuring the value they create.
Bella Vuillermoz, Bigger Picture Director, Sky, explained: “We want to work together to push the boundaries of what’s possible in understanding how business delivers value for society.
We’re excited about this hub which creates a platform for businesses, research organisations and social entrepreneurs to share their expertise and experience in tackling what we know is a real challenge.”
Tom Idle, editor in chief, 2degrees added: “Social value has emerged as a key sustainable business challenge among our members – and we wanted to create a new space that really helps organisations get to grips with understanding, measuring and communicating their true value in society.
“Sky has been leading the way in developing true social value in the communities it serves and we’re delighted to be joining forces with them on this exciting new channel for 2degrees. If you’re interested in developing social value, join in.”
James Goodman, Director of Futures, Forum for the Future said: “We’re seeing a real sea change in businesses wanting to understand the value they bring to society. It’s great to see Sky working alongside 2degrees to bring people, ideas and organisations together to do this.”
Social Value is one of many issues addressed by the newly-relaunched 2degrees community which facilitates problem-solving, knowledge-sharing and the accessing of resources and information. These include: Resource Efficiency, Supply Chain, Water Risk, Waste Management, and Strategy and Brand.
The 2degrees community is free to join and is open to all professionals looking to grow their business, be more efficient and save money by being more sustainable.
