No matter what happens, do not stop singing, KILLER KARAOKE storms onto Challenge.
Challenge today announces that it has acquired the ultimate dare series for wannabe rockstars or divas. Presented by Jackass star Steve-O, Killer Karaoke raises the bar on the average singing show by subjecting its contestants to extreme and outrageous distractions. Their only task is to keep singing no matter what situation they find themselves in. The eight-part series receives its UK premiere on Thursday 15th August at 10pm.
Each week, Killer Karaoke sees six contestants try to keep belting out their favorite Karaoke song while they're subject to extreme situations which are designed to make them stop singing. The challenges include navigating a cactus maze wearing drunk goggles, singing in front of an industrial wind machine, singing while having body hair removed, being controlled like a puppet while being a singing waiter, being electrocuted and being dunked into a snake infested tank of water.
Steve-O presides over the daredevil challenges and reminds the contestants that no matter what happens, they don’t want to stop singing. After all six have attempted to sing their song, the three best contestants are chosen by a studio audience vote to take part in the final showdown where they have the chance to win $10,000.
“Killer Karaoke is a singing contest like no other. I knew it was going to be a hit when we first saw clips of the show and they had the whole team in the office crying with laughter. I’m proud that it's coming exclusively to Challenge,” commentsStephen Ladlow, Director of Challenge. “The mix of mad-cap physical mayhem, jaw-dropping contest and laugh-out-loud situations will really hit a high note and grab the attention of even the most discerning Challenge viewer.”
Killer Karaoke marks Sky’s further commitment to buy quality content for Challenge since it re-launched on Freeview in 2011 and Freesat in 2012. It aims to emulate the success of the channel's other key programming, including Takeshi’s Castle Rebooted and TNA Wrestling: British Boot Camp, and compliment the channel's late night male-skewed audience.
