Our most popular shows in May

Since March, we’ve been providing updates on the top ten shows on Sky each month.

This month, I wanted to dig a bit further into the performance of some of these with you and share just a couple of brief highlights.

It’s always fascinating for us to see not just what our customers are watching, but how they’re using new gadgets and technology to make their favourite TV fit in around their lives.

In May, we saw an episode of Sky 1’s Arrow continue its strong performance by taking out the top spot with nearly 1.7m viewers – over 80% (1.4m) of whom caught up on the programme by recording and watching it on Sky+.

In second spot, Game of Thrones was yet another stand-out performer, not least in its popularity via our On Demand and Sky Go services. Attracting an audience of 1.56m, including over 1.1m via Sky+, episode 7 of the latest series was downloaded by 94,000 customers via our catch-up service Sky On Demand. Perhaps even more interesting though are the 215,000 viewers that tuned in on their laptops, tablets and mobile devices through Sky Go – truly unmissable TV.

Further down the list with nearly 1.2m total viewers, it’s great to see a continued strong reception for our new original Sky1 commission, Greggs: More Than Meats The Pie – a hugely funny and warm fly-on-the-wall series that we’re all really proud of.

I’ll be back here on Sky Views with some more insight into June’s viewing figures – with all the buzz around the cliff-hanger penultimate episode of Game of Thrones earlier this month, the numbers are sure to be interesting.
