Reporter for a day, career inspiration and improving skills with Sky Academy
Today we've begun to release dates for upcoming sessions at Sky Academy Skills Studios and Sky Academy Careers Lab in London and Livingston, Scotland. Teachers can sign up to bring their students through the Sky Academy website.
Sky Academy Skills Studios is a half-day interactive learning experience giving eight to 18-year-olds the chance to use the latest broadcast technology to make a TV report on subjects they’re studying at school. We’ve combined a behind-the-scenes tour at Sky with hands-on experience of our purpose-built studios where the students write, produce and direct their own short news bulletin.
Sky Academy Careers Lab is a full-day careers experience giving 16 to 19-year-olds the chance to take part in practical workplace challenges and learn about careers in media, business and technology. Opened in 2014 by HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, Sky Academy Careers Lab opens up Sky’s London campus to young people who are exploring their future career options.
Last year, 81% of students who took part in Sky Academy Skills Studios sessions and 70% of students taking part in Sky Academy Careers Lab reported an improvement in at least one key skill. In addition, 90% of the students who took part in either Sky Academy Skills Studios or Sky Academy Careers Lab reported improved confidence in applying their skills.
