Ross Kemp: Invisible Wounded to air on 12 November at 9pm exclusively on Sky 1 HD
Following on from Remembrance Sunday, Ross Kemp’s documentary on the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder, INVISIBLE WOUNDED, will air on Monday 12 November at 9pm on Sky 1 HD.
Following a string of critically acclaimed documentaries, including the BAFTA Award winning Ross Kemp on Gangs, Kemp returns to Sky 1 HD to tackle the subject of PTSD that threatens those working in the forces today.
ROSS KEMP: INVISIBLE WOUNDED will explore the devastating effects of mental illness on those who have served in the military. With an estimated 1-in-4 war veterans suffering from depression, addiction or violent outbursts, Ross speaks to those affected, their families the experts, asking what can and is being done to support our service personnel and prevent further suffering.
Celia Taylor, Head of Features & Factual: “Ross and the team constantly tackle difficult subjects with intelligence, bravery and an unflinching honesty. I think they are uniquely placed to explore this difficult subject and deliver a moving and powerful film.”
Ross Kemp: “For over a decade the nation has witnessed the very visible scars and damage war has had on troops and support workers, but this is not the case of hidden effects of post-traumatic stress disorder and associated conditions. The haunting trauma of war can be carried with these people for many years. I hope this documentary made for Sky 1 will go some way to address the issues, stigmas and ways in which we can help those suffering, safeguarding them for the future.”
ROSS KEMP: INVISIBLE WOUNDED has been commissioned by Head of Factual Celia Taylor at Sky. The series is Executive Produced by Matt Bennett at Freshwater Films.
This latest commission is part of Sky's commitment to increase its investment in original British content by 50% over the next three years.
By 2014, Sky expects to invest £600 million a year in British programmes across its portfolio of channels. This commitment follows the success of home-grown comedies such as TROLLIED, SPY and STELLA, entertainment hits GOT TO DANCE and A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN, dramas such as STRIKE BACK and MAD DOGS, and factual shows including ROSS KEMP EXTREME WORLD, AN IDIOT ABROAD and the BAFTA-winning documentary FLYING MONSTERS 3D.
ROSS KEMP is exclusively on Sky 1 HD and Sky 1 this Autumn. Following the addition of Sky 1 HD to Sky Go, customers will also be able to watch on the move on iPad, selected smartphones and laptops at no extra cost.
