Sky 1 drama Delicious adds over a million viewers to episode one

Sky 1’s brand-new original drama Delicious, starring Dawn French and Emilia Fox, has seen viewing of its first episode more than double in the week after launch, resulting in a consolidated audience of 1.641 million. This makes it the seventh consecutive original drama to have launched on Sky 1 with an audience of over 1 million and the channel’s second biggest original drama launch of 2016.

The strong performance of Delicious followed on from Sky 1’s best-performing Christmas Day ever,with the average overnight ratings across the day, from shows including feature-length drama The Last Dragonslayer, up 36% in comparison to 2015.  It also rounds off a fantastic year for the channel which saw original drama Stan Lee’s Lucky Man secure its place as Sky 1’s best-performing UK drama series ever, with an average cumulative audience of 1.77 million.

Launching with an overnight audience of 677,000 , viewing has increased by 142% over seven days as Sky customers take advantage of being able to watch the show flexibly,whether that’s through Sky+ recordings, on demand or via Sky Go. Delicious is also one of top ten most watched shows of the week on online streaming service NOW TV.

Episode two of the four-part drama, which aired on Friday, is proving just as popular with audiences as the launch. Having secured an overnight figure of 562,000, viewing has already grown to over 1 million with further playback due to raise this even higher over the next four days.

Written by Dan Sefton (Mr Selfridge, Secret Diary of a Call Girl)directed by Clare Kilner (The Wedding Date) and made by Bandit Television for Sky 1, Delicious is part of Sky’s commitment to offer customers brand-new original drama all year round.
