Sky 1 HD’s entertainment spectacular GOT TO DANCE returns for its fourth series, with new judge Aston Merrygold

Sky 1 HD spectacular, GOT TO DANCE, returns to our screens on Sunday 6th January 2013 at 6pm, for its most electrifying series yet with a brand new judging line up and some of the most unbelievable talent viewers will have ever seen.

The fourth series sees JLS superstar Aston Merrygold join returning judges Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Banjo to help with their search for Britain and Ireland’s best new dance act, who will win a life-changing cash prize of £250,000. Host Davina McCall, as ever, is on hand to mop brows, dish out hugs and challenge the judges’ decisions, in what promises to be the best series yet.

Over the past three series, GOT TO DANCE has discovered some of the most unique and breath-taking talent the nation has to offer, with previous winners Akai and Chris & Wes forging successful careers in dance, television and film. Last year’s winners Prodijig, will also be embarking on an arena tour across the nation in 2013, where they will be dazzling audiences with their contemporary take on Irish Dancing.

With a new judging line-up, the series promises to be a ‘series of excellence,’ with the stakes raised even higher. The audition process proved, that despite having reached its fourth series, there was no risk of the talent drying up, with the judges declaring that this series had produced some of the best talent they had ever seen.

In addition to the new judging line up, acts will now need to receive three gold stars in order to make it though to the judge’s shortlist making the audition even tougher. Capturing all the action to even higher level, this series sees the introduction of Timefreeze technology for the first time on a TV talent show. The ground-breaking equipment, which was used during the London 2012 Olympic Games, involves 96 SLR camera’s placed around the stage to shoot ‘Matrix’ sequences during the auditions. This technology will also be used during the live shows.

First time judge Aston Merrygold said, "I am so excited to be joining Kimberly and Ashley on the GOT TO DANCE judging panel. I have had so much fun during the auditions and learnt so much. This series is known as the 'series of excellence' for a reason - the acts have been incredible! I can't wait for the live finals so I can see even more talent. "

The audition episodes unearth a wide range of mind-blowing talent, from the shockingly bendy Shun (23, London) to the comedic tap dancing act Hash-Tap (23, Hull). With more s of dance on display than ever before, with the latest craze of ‘krumping’ coming to the forefront, fans of every dance discipline are in for a treat.

The new craze of Krumping is represented to the highest level by an exciting mix of acts including Godson (21, London), Buckness Personified (18 – 28, London) and Wild G (25, London)and is a of dance the judges have their expert eyes on.

The judges had the tough job of whittling the shortlist down to a Final 30, who then will compete across five live shows. A public vote will decide the ten finalists to fight for the coveted £250,000 prize in front of a 6,000-strong audience at Kensington Olympia on the 17th March 2013. This spectacular finale will once again be available to view on Sky 3D and for the first time, viewers will have the opportunity to vote online absolutely free through the GOT TO DANCE website.
