Sky Atlantic HD debuts dark comedy duo House Of Lies and Nurse Jackie this October
London (18 September, 2012): Sky Atlantic HD today announce that dark comedies HOUSE OF LIES (Season 1) and NURSE JACKIE (Season 4) will premiere exclusively to Sky customers on Tuesday 2 October at 10pm and Tuesday 9 October at 10.35pm respectively.
Based on the hit tell-all book from best-selling author Martin Kihn (House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time), HOUSE OF LIES stars Golden Globe® winner and Oscar®, BAFTA® and Emmy® nominee Don Cheadle (Ocean’s Twelve, Crash, Hotel Rwanda) as Marty Kaan, a highly successful, cutthroat consultant who is never above using any means (or anyone) necessary to get his way with his clients. Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) also stars as Jeannie Van Der Hooven, a razor-sharp, Ivy League graduate who works at Marty’s firm. Marty’s life is further complicated by his acerbic ex-wife Monica (Dawn Olivieri, The Vampire Diaries), psychoanalyst father Jeremiah (Emmy® award winner Glynn Turman, In Treatment) and young son Roscoe (newcomer Donis Leonard Jr.)
Don Cheadle, who recently received an Emmy® nomination for his role in the series, commented: “I read [the] script…that I really dug and thought would be a very interesting take on an industry and a business that we know very little about. I thought the script was really great and well executed.”
Kristen Bell added: “I had an itch to do TV again… Before [the producer] finished the 'le' in Cheadle, I said yes. I just flew by the seat of my pants."
HOUSE OF LIES also stars Emmy® award winner Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as Clyde, a young member of Marty’s team and a major suck up, and Josh Lawson (The Wedding Party) as Doug, a brilliant, Harvard-educated addition to the team.
Returning exclusively to Sky Atlantic HD for its fourth season, NURSE JACKIE stars Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award winner Edie Falco as Jackie Peyton, a strong-willed and brilliant – but very flawed – emergency room nurse working in the complicated and frenzied environment of a New York City hospital.
This season, Jackie learns that both karma and sobriety can be a real bitch. In addition to finally confronting her addiction, her sardonic wit will be tested even further by an ambitious new hospital administrator played by Emmy® Award winner Bobby Cannavale (Will & Grace, Third Watch) determined to run a tight ship and keep Jackie in line.
Series regulars Eve Best (The King’s Speech), Merritt Wever (Greenberg), Paul Schulze (Law & Order), Dominic Fumusa (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Anna Deveare Smith (The West Wing), Peter Facinelli (The Twilight Saga), Arjun Gupta, Stephen Wallem and Lenny Jacobson return for season 4 while this season’s special guest stars include acclaimed actors Rosie Perez, Aida Turturro and Joel Grey, New York Knicks’ forward Carmelo Anthony and Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong.
A co-production of Showtime and Lionsgate, NURSE JACKIE is Executive Produced by Linda Wallem, Liz Brixius, Richie Jackson and Caryn Mandabach.
HOUSE OF LIES Season 1 will debut on Tuesday 2 October at 10pm and NURSE JACKIE Season 4 will premiere on Tuesday 9 October at 10.35pm, both exclusively on Sky Atlantic HD.
Following the addition of Sky Atlantic HD to Sky Go, customers will also be able to watch HOUSE OF LIES and NURSE JACKIE on the move on iPad, selected smartphones and laptops at no extra cost.
