Sky celebrates Primetime Emmy Award® success

At the 65th Primetime Emmy Award® in Los Angeles last night, Sky shows garnered multiple wins, including double wins for Sky 1 HD’s MODERN FAMILY and Sky Atlantic HD’s VEEP and NURSE JACKIE.

Sky 1’s MODERN FAMILY won Outstanding Comedy Series while Gail Mancuso was awarded Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.

VEEP’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus was awarded outstanding lead actress in a comedy series while Tony Hale was awarded outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series for their roles in Armando Iannucci’s HBO comedy, which returns to Sky Atlantic HD on 16 October.

Further performance accolades for Sky Atlantic HD shows include Jeff Daniel’s Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for THE NEWSROOM, Merritt Wever’s Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for NURSE JACKIE and Bobby Cannavale’s Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for BOARDWALK EMPIRE.

BOARDWALK EMPIRE celebrated a further four wins, GAME OF THRONES two and THE BORGIAS one while MANHUNT: THE INSIDE STORY OF THE HUNT FOR BIN LADEN, which will premiere in the UK and Ireland on Sky Atlantic HD later this year as part of the channel’s documentary film strand, was awarded Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special.
