Sky Living discovers that loving feeling with new entertainment series “Sing Date”
“If music be the food of love, play on.”William Shakespeare
Forget blind-dating, forget speed-dating, Sky Living HD announces an innovative new relationship series; Sing Date, the all new and exclusive entertainment show from Princess Productions and Indie TV that combines the force of internet dating with the power of song. Sing Date will TX on 14th August at 8pm on Sky Living HD.
Hot on the heels of Sky Living’s, The Love Machine, presented by Chris Moyles and Stacey Solomon, Sing Date, co-produced by Princess Productions and Indie TV will build on the channel’s strand of original British dating content for 2012.
Sing Date, (40 x 30), is no ordinary internet dating show. On a musical mission to find their perfect partner, singing singletons will duet to a karaoke track via their home webcam. Customers will be able to follow female contestants as they duet with single guys before they decide who they’d like to make sweet music with in real life by picking them for a face to face ‘Sing Date’ in the recording studio. Will it be “Abracadabra” and “2 Become 1” or end with “A Little Less Conversation” and an “Achey Breaky Heart”?
Antonia Hurford-Jones, Acting Director of Sky Living said:“Sing Date is a fabulously fun show and I’m sure Sky Living customers will love it. What better way of working out if you are compatible with someone than by dueting with them!”
Sing Date will be executive produced by Duncan Gray and Katie Le Corre at Princess Productions, and Mark Rowland for Indie TV. Shine International will distribute worldwide. Sing Date is a co-production between Indie TV and Princess Productions for Sky Living HD, and is developed from an Indie TV format and inspired by the online karaoke duet phenomenon pioneered by Singsnap.com, who will provide the online elements.
Duncan Gray, Creative Director Princess Productions ''Sing Date does what all great TV shows do. It reflects what really is happening in the world and tells that story in the best way possible.''
Indie TV’s CEO Mark Rowland says, “Online duets, where one person sings to a stranger ‘webcam to webcam’ is one of the most exciting new social media trends. Sing Date turns this into a new form of reality TV – with just ‘one click’ anyone can take part. It’s fantastic that Jane Johnson, Director of Sky Living shares our vision for this show. It’s great to be working with the Princess team on this given the success they are having on Sky Living with The Love Machine.”
Sing Datefurther cements Sky’s commitment to increase investment in original British content by 50% in the next three years. By 2014, Sky expects to invest £600 million a year in British programming across its portfolio of channels. This commitment follows the success of home-grown content such as entertainment hits including; Got to Dance, Steps Reunion, dramas Bedlam, Mad Dogs and Treasure Island, and the BAFTA-winning documentary Flying Monsters 3D.
Sing Date will be extensively supported online with an interactive second screen experience, giving customers the opportunity to get actively involved in the show, from the comfort of their own home.
