Sky Living grabs thrilling US detective drama Shades of Blue starring Jennifer Lopez
Following a deal with NBCUniversal International Distribution, new police thriller Shades of Blue, led by global superstar Jennifer Lopez, will be coming to the UK later this year on Sky Living.
Shades of Blue is a thrilling crime drama fresh from the US starring the talented multi-hyphenate, Jennifer Lopez, as Harlee Santos. Harlee is a charismatic single mother and resourceful detective at the heart of a close-knit crew of Brooklyn detectives, led by the enigmatic Lieutenant Matt Wozniak, played by Emmy® Award-winning Ray Liotta, who often leads the team to step outside the limitations of the law in order to effectively protect their precinct and their own.
As a big illegal job looms on the horizon, the FBI catches Harlee in the act and pits her against her own unit. As a newly turned informant, she struggles to safeguard her on-the-job family and avoid arrest in order to stay with her daughter. Harlee engages in a perilous dance with her FBI handler, Special Agent Stahl (Warren Kole), who develops an unhealthy obsession with her. Meanwhile, Wozniak, acting as the unit's patriarch, begins an all-consuming hunt for the informant. Pressure mounts as the crew struggles to perform their brand of street justice under FBI watch.
The stellar cast also includes Emmy® winner Drea de Matteo (The Sopranos), Dayo Okeniyi (Terminator: Genisys), Hampton Fluker (Aquarius), Vincent Laresca (The Aviator) and Sarah Jeffery (Wayward Pines). Santino Fontana (Frozen) is a recurring guest star.
The acquisition of Shades of Blue further showcases to customers that Sky Living is the number one place to get lost in great drama. Sky Living is already home to an enviable list of some of the most-loved US network hits including Scandal, Elementary, The Blacklist, Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds and Bones and most recently, the UK premiere of Blindspot. Blindspot consolidated from 384K to 1.192m, making it the best launch of a brand new US drama on Sky Living ever. Also coming soon to Sky Living is the new show from Shonda Rhimes, The Catch.
Adam MacDonald, Director of Sky 1 and Sky Living said: “After a successful debut in the US earlier this year, I am very excited to have this fast-paced thriller coming to Sky Living. This New York detective drama is a perfect fit for the channel and I can’t wait for customers to see the brilliant pairing of Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta in action.”
Jack Orman, creator/writer Adi Hasak, Barry Levinson (Pilot), Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, Ryan Seacrest and Nina Wass serve as executive producers. Barry Levinson directed episodes 101 and 102.
Shades of Blue is a production of Universal Television, Nuyorican Productions, EGTV, Ryan Seacrest Productions and Jack Orman Productions. It is distributed worldwide by NBCUniversal.
