Sky News on Catch Up - showcasing the very best of Sky News

Monday 19 May 2014

Sky News is now on Catch Up TV. It sits proudly front and centre of the Catch Up home page – the only dedicated news service on the platform – and is available to 5 million Sky TV customers with Sky+HD boxes connected to broadband.

For a news outfit that has built a global reputation on the speedy delivery of breaking news, the concept of a catch up service may appear odd. But we have found that news consumers have become more discerning and more selective. There is an increasing demand from customers not only to control what news they watch, but also when they watch it.

That is exactly what Sky News on Catch Up delivers. A TV service that hands over control of the news agenda to the customer. The customer becomes the news editor enabled by a clear editorial layout allowing easy access to the very best of Sky News' content - whether it be the latest 2 minute report on a struggling NHS, an analysis piece on Russia’s President Putin or a full 20 minute Sunrise bulletin.

This new service has arrived at a time when Sky News is producing an increasing amount of high quality features, longer form programmes and ad hoc specials . Our TV audience has responded positively to our daily Oscar Pistorius trial specials and documentaries such as Asia Correspondent Mark Stone’s outstanding Defectors shot in North and South Korea. Analysis suggests that the longer form programmes will work well on Catch Up.

Specialist categories in Entertainment, Technology and Royal stories mean stories in those areas are well represented, too. And uniquely to the Sky News Catch Up TV service, at a time when Sky News is celebrating 25 years in the business, customers can revisit memorable and world changing news events from our archive by way of The Vault.

At Sky News, we’re committed to developing new ways for customers to access our content. Offering access to Sky News on catch up is an important part of this. To access Sky’s On Demand service, Sky TV customers simply need to connect their Sky+HD set-top box to broadband. Click here to find out how.
