Sky Rainforest Rescue wins at National CSR Awards

We were delighted to win the Best International Sustainable Community (Legacy) award with our partner WWF at the National CSR Awards for Sky Rainforest Rescue. Our six-year partnership helped to save one billion trees in the Amazon by finding new and innovative ways to make the trees in the project area worth more alive than cut down to the local community. Over the lifespan of the project WWF worked with over 1,500 farming families that depend on the rainforest for their livelihood, to help them learn sustainable farming practices and identify new market opportunities for sustainable forest products, such as wild rubber.

Lucy Carver, Director of the Bigger Picture, said: ''It was amazing to see Sky Rainforest Rescue win the International Sustainable Communities Award for Legacy. Sky Rainforest Rescue has been a unique, challenging and hugely ambitious project, striving to make a difference to the enormous issue of climate change by saving one billion trees. This award is great recognition for all at Sky and WWF who played a part in its success, from the teams working on the ground in Brazil, to the teams behind the campaigns and special environment themed TV programmes that helped to raise £9.3 million and bring to life the importance of rainforests for millions of people – we’re delighted it has won.''
