Sky recognised by CDP for climate change performance

Wednesday 22 January 2014

Sky has has been commended by Climate Disclosure Project (CDP) for the action we’re taking to reduce emissions and mitigate the risks of climate change. We know that operating efficiently and reducing our impact on the environment improves our business, as well as contributing to a more sustainable future for everyone.  To achieve this we have a series of environmental targets that are resulting in fewer impacts and better, more sustainable products. We’ve been disclosing our carbon emissions to the CDP for four consecutive years.

This year, we’ve achieved a position in CDP’s Supplier Climate Performance Leadership Index (SCPLI) that highlights companies that have demonstrated a strong approach to climate strategy and emissions reduction in their supply chain. This is a new list of the best performing companies on climate change action who disclosed to the CDP supply chain program in 2013.

Paul Simpson, Chief Executive Officer of CDP, commented:

“Companies in the Supplier Climate Performance Leadership Index are demonstrating a clear commitment to manage their greenhouse gas emissions and take action on climate change.  Organizations which work to reduce their emissions and integrate climate change issues into their business strategies have the potential for cost savings, revenue generating opportunities and, ultimately, a more resilient future.”

During the disclosure year our absolute gross emissions fell by 10% while Sky continued to grow as a business. This represents a 31% reduction in gross CO2e emissions against our 2008/09 baseline. Click here to find out more about our environmental targets.
