Sky recognised in the CDP Global 500 Climate Change Report 2013

At Sky we know that operating efficiently and reducing our impact on the environment improves our business, as well as contributing to a more sustainable future for everyone.  To achieve this we have a series of bold environmental targets that will result in fewer impacts and better, more sustainable products that we report on year on year.

We have been disclosing our carbon emissions to the CDP for four consecutive years and for the first time we have been identified as a company leading on climate change action.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an international, not-for-profit organisation, who motivate companies to disclose their impacts on the environment and take action to reduce them. The CDP is made up of 722 investors representing US$87 trillion of assets and holds the largest collection globally of primary climate change, water and forest-risk information.

For the first time Sky has been included in the CDP’s Carbon Performance Leadership Index (CPLI), recognising not only disclosure of our carbon impact but also our reduction in carbon emissions. During the disclosure year our absolute gross emissions fell by 10% while Sky continuing to grow as a business. This represents a 31% reduction in gross CO2e emissions against our 2008/09 baseline.
