Following the announcement of the 2024 EE British Academy Film Awards, Sky has been nominated for a total of seven BAFTAs for original films May December and Ferrari, a record for the broadcaster.

Covering a range of categories, the nominations include two for Sky Original film May December, including Supporting Actress for Julianne Moore and Original Screenplay. Sky Original film Ferrari received five nominations with recognition in Cinematography, Costume Design, Make-Up & Hair, Production Design and Sound.

May December follows married couple Gracie (Julianne Moore) and Joe Atherton-Yoo (Charles Melton) whose 23-year age gap sparked a notorious tabloid romance that gripped the nation two decades ago. Cut to modern day, and their marriage comes under renewed strain when Hollywood actress Elizabeth Berry (Natalie Portman) comes to spend time with the family to better understand Gracie, who she will be playing in a film about the scandal.

Ferrari is set in the summer of 1957, and behind the spectacle of Formula 1, ex-racer Enzo Ferrari (Adam Driver) is in crisis. Bankruptcy threatens the factory he and his wife, Laura (Penelope Cruz) built from nothing ten years earlier. Their volatile marriage has been battered by the loss of their son, Dino a year earlier. Ferrari struggles to acknowledge his son Piero with Lina Lardi (Shailene Woodley). Meanwhile, his drivers’ passion to win pushes them to the edge as they launch into the treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy, the Mille Miglia.

The 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony, hosted by David Tennant, will take place at The Royal Festival Hall, London on Sunday 18 February 2024.
