Pupils from the John Madejski Academy in Reading were treated to a special hockey masterclass with Alex Danson, Olympian, and Sky Sports Living for Sport Athlete Mentor. The pupils, who have been selected by their teachers to take part in a Sky Sports Living for Sport project, heard from Alex about how she progressed from playing hockey at school to representing Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Adam Bousfield, Assistant Principle at the John Madejski Academy comments: “Alex’s visit was an inspiring reward for our pupils who are extremely excited about starting their Sky Sports Living for Sport project. The students loved hearing Alex’s story and learning new hockey skills from an Olympian."
“Most importantly, our young people have learned first-hand that sport can teach them so much. Whether it is the social skills needed to be a team player or the focus and determination required to do a job well, Sky Sports Living for Sport is helping them to learn important life lessons."
