Sky's top 10 entertainment shows in October

Hi

Have you felt out of sorts the past few days?  That'll be because you'll have been waiting for my round-up of the top ten shows on Sky last month. Well you can relax, because it's here now.

Our commitment to new home-grown content continued in October with the launch of two brand new co-productions, Dracula and The Tunnel. I love doing co-productions - means we get to pair up with incredible broadcasters across the world, like Canal Plus and NBC,  and realise a vision for shows which increasingly is bigger than what people get on Free TV.

Dracula has been a big hit for us. It launched on Sky Living HD with over 1.8 million total views in its first week, making it the second most popular show in October. Anglo-French crime drama The Tunnel was also big hit with Sky customers, with over 1.5 million viewers catching the series launch ep, making it the fifth most popular show last month. In addition, more than 100,000 downloaded the opening episode of The Tunnel to their Sky+HD box, with a further 100,000 watching on the move with our mobile TV service Sky Go.

October - a sort of grumpy month I think - saw the premiere of our grumpy new series Karl Pilkington, The Moaning of Life. The show, where Karl travels the world to answer life’s big questions, is Sky 1 HD’s biggest show of the year so far. The series launched with a total audience of nearly 2.5 million, with around 200,000 watching through Sky Go – illustrating how much Sky customers love the freedom to watch must-see TV on the move. Not that anything's must-see, if you ask Karl.

As with September, it is great to see the top 3 shows this month are all home-grown Sky programmes- demonstrating customers are really enjoying our increased investment in original content. As well as great home-grown shows, we get a kick out of bringing our customers the best of the US too, including Elementary and Arrow, both of which returned for their second series in October.  Elementary was the sixth most popular show during October, attracting a total audience of 1.4 million, with Arrow just behind it in seventh, with 1.3 million.

See you next month
