Spartacus returns to Sky 1 HD with a Vengeance

Tuesday 17 January 2012

Following on from the worldwide success of both Blood and Sand and prequel Gods of the Arena, SPARTACUS returns to Sky 1 with the highly anticipated sequel SPARTACUS: VENGEANCE.

Australian actor LIAM MCINTYRE (Rush, Neighbours and The Pacific) has stepped into the title role, following the death of actor Andy Whitfield last year, whilst LUCY LAWLESS (Xena, Xena: the Warrior Princess) returns as Lucretia to remind viewers that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. This series promises to be even more gory and gratuitous than before.

Picking up where the first series, Blood and Sand, left off, on the heels of the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus, Vengeance joins the gladiator rebellion as it gains momentum, striking fear into the heart of the Roman Republic.

Gaius Claudius Glaber (CRAIG PARKER, Haldir the Elf, Lord of The rings) and his Roman troops are sent to Capua to crush the growing band of freed slaves that Spartacus leads and Spartacus is faced with the choice of satisfying his personal need for vengeance or keeping his budding army from breaking apart.

SPARTACUS: VENGEANCE provides more of the blood-soaked action, exotic sexuality, villainy and heroism that has come to distinguish the drama packed series.

SPARTACUS: VENGEANCE returns to Sky 1 and Sky 1 HD later this month.
