Strap yourself in: Production begins on the farewell series of critically acclaimed Sky Original comedy, Brassic

Wednesday 22 January 2025

Production has officially commenced on the seventh series of the Sky Original comedy, Brassic and Sky can now reveal that this will be the iconic show’s farewell.

The series, produced by Calamity Films, will air later in 2025 on Sky and streaming service NOW, wrapping up the iconic story in unforgettable ‘Brassic style’.

This momentous return marks the last chapter for the unruly gang, who are promising to go out with a bang and with even more of the madness and mayhem that fans have cherished over the years. Fans of the franchise can expect one last whirlwind round of escapades, raucous adventure, and mischief from Vinnie (Joe Gilgun) and co. The stories of this boisterous group will come to an end after an incredible seven series, since the show launched with huge success in 2019 and became a fan favourite.

Danny Brocklehurst, co-creator & writer, said: “When Joe Gilgun and I sat down to create Brassic, we couldn't have imagined, in our wildest dreams, that we would do seven series and gather such a loyal and loving fan base. It's been a complete joy to create this eccentric world, but all good things must come to an end, and we want to stop while we are still riding high. Maybe they can finally give us that BAFTA!”

A Sky spokesperson commented: “Since Brassic arrived on our screens in 2019, it has become Sky's most successful comedy ever. Fans very quickly became attached to this dynamic group of friends, as they found unconventional ways to win at life in northern suburbia. We would like to thank Joe Gilgun, Danny Brocklehurst and the whole cast and crew – past and present – for bringing us all a truly iconic series, which we’ve loved for its special mix of hilarity and heart.”

David Livingstone, Founder of Calamity Films, adds: “Somehow, some crazy stories and a bucketful of truth, combined with an astoundingly talented cast, have created the most loyal fanbase you could ever hope for. From Joe Gilgun’s unconventional imagination to Danny Brocklehurst’s brilliant writing, it's all been a blast. This farewell series is for the fans.”

Joe Gilgun (Vinnie) is joined for Series 7 by returning cast Ryan Sampson (Tommo), Michelle Keegan (Erin), Aaron Heffernan (Ashley), Parth Thakerar (JJ), Joanna Higson (Sugar), Steve Evets (Jim).

The BAFTA-nominated first series of Brassic was, at launch, the best-performing new Sky Original comedy in seven years and has since gone on to be the most watched Sky Original comedy of all time. The most recent series, six, continued to be loved by audiences delivering the highest audiences of the last three years.

The series has received recognition with BAFTA, NTA and TV Choice nominations, as well as winning Best Comedy Drama at the RTS Awards 2023, during its run and has been a comedy staple with a loyal fanbase from the outset.

Brassic is produced by Calamity Films. The series is created by Danny Brocklehurst and Joe Gilgun and written by Danny Brocklehurst. Executive Producers are David Livingstone, Danny Brocklehurst, Joe Gilgun, Bekki Wray-Rogers and Alex Moody for Sky. Jim Poyser serves as the series producer.

Brassic Series 7 will launch exclusively on Sky and streaming service NOW later this year.

Brassic Series 1-6 are available to watch on Sky on-demand and NOW.
