Taking our cricket coverage to the next level

Here at Sky Sports, we love using the latest technology to make our customers’ viewing experience even better.

That’s why we’re thrilled to be taking our cricket coverage to the next level today with our new Ashes Event Centre as part of the Sky Sports for iPad app and via SkySports.com.

As our first cricket companion experience, it’s great to be bringing fans even closer to the action with a range of new second-screen features. In addition to watching live ball-by-ball coverage at home or on the move, users of the Ashes Event Centre can also enjoy flexible replay features on an interactive timeline, as well as view the very same match statistics used by the Sky Sports commentary team.

Complementing our most complete Ashes coverage ever, which includes our new dedicated channel Sky Sports Ashes HD, the Ashes Event Centre has been designed to take cricket fans right inside the commentary box, giving them access to a range of tools traditionally reserved for our teams of analysts. As an example, for the first time, viewers will have control over their very own Hawk-Eye replays, meaning they can review and analyse every ball on their own terms.

Available at no extra charge to Sky Sports customers, we’re continuing to pack the Sky Sports for iPad app full of as much extra content and interactivity as possible.  Following the success of our F1 companion app and the growing popularity of second-screen viewing, we’re also focusing on rolling out similar services across other sports across our bumper schedule of rights and coverage.

It’s our best ever summer of sport here at Sky and we’re really pleased to be using the most innovative and engaging new tech to add value and strengthen our offering for sports fans.
