The Legacy (Arvingerne) comes to Sky Arts

31/01/2014: Sky Arts today announces that it has acquired the acclaimed Danish television drama The Legacy Arrow Film’s Nordic Noir label. The series will receive its exclusive UK television premiere this autumn on Sky Arts.(Arvingerne) from the distributor
Directed by the internationally acclaimed actor and director Pernilla August and created by author Maya Ilsøe, The Legacy is produced by the leading European production house DR Fiktion – the BAFTA and International Emmy© Award-winning production unit behind the drama series The Killing and Borgen.
Following the death of progressive internationally-renowned artist Veronika Grønnegaard, The Legacy traces the story of Veronika’s four adult children, whose distinctive upbringing has affected their lives in very different ways. The division of Veronika’s estate marks the beginning of a journey into a complex set of secrets and lies for her four children. The series paints a portrait of a Danish family and their children, coming to terms with the challenges of change and the traces of violent upheaval from their past.

Starring Trine Dyrholm, Jesper Christensen, Lene Maria Christensen, Carsten Bjørnlund (The Killing), Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Marie Bach Hansen and Trond Espen Seim,.The first episode of The Legacyis being screened at Nordicana 2014, the UK’s only festival of Nordic fiction and film, which takes place on February 1st and 2nd at the Old Truman Brewery, London.
The Legacywill air in the UK in Danish with English subtitles in autumn 2014. Sky Arts is currently broadcasting the second series of the Spanish drama Grand Hotel on Sundays at 7pm. It has recently broadcast the celebrated dramas: Romanzo Criminale, Isabel, Hard, Maison Close, Corleone, In Treatment (BeTipul) and the original Homeland, Prisoners of War (Hatufim).
The Legacy was acquired for Sky Arts by Sophie Judge, Acquisitions Manager, Sky Entertainment. The commitment to foreign drama reflects Sky’s promise to deliver high-quality, exclusive content to customers, supported by a commitment to increase investment in programming to £600 million by 2014.
