(LONDON, Friday 21st March, 2014) – Tiger Aspect Productions have started filming on the second series of hit Sky Arts 1 comedy, PSYCHOBITCHES. Following the success of the first series, the therapy sessions in front of discerning therapist Rebecca Front (The Thick of It) are set to continue as the appointment diary looks as booked up as ever.
Featuring an all-star cast of acclaimed and celebrated comedic talent, the six-part comedy series has been co-written and directed by The League of Gentleman’s Jeremy Dyson.
The series will again see a number of iconic women from history played by the core cast of Sam Spiro (Bad Education), Sharon Horgan (Pulling), Morgana Robinson (Snakes on a Plane), Michelle Gomez (Bad Education). Katy Brand (Mongrels), Doon MacKichan (Smack the Pony), Sophie Ellis-Bexter, Meera Syal (The Kumars), comedy duo Cardinal Burns, Sheila Reid (Benidorm), Selina Griffiths (Holy Flying Circus) Zawe Ashton (Fresh Meat), Jack Whitehall (Bad Education) Frances Barber (Silk) and Michelle Gomez (Bad Education).
Ben Cavey, executive producer commented: 'It's fantastic to bring the team back together for series 2 of Psychobitches. We have a whole new line up of women from history getting a dose of modern day therapy and the results promise to be just as clever, insightful and downright silly.'
Saskia Schuster, Commissioning Editor, Sky Comedy added: “We are really proud to be bringing Psychobitches back for a second series. We can look forward to lots of new characters, as well as re-visiting some of our favourites from series one. Since we launched the one-off in 2012, the series has become a key part of Sky Arts’ comedy offering to our customers”
The 6 x 30 series was commissioned for Sky by Lucy Lumsden, Head of Comedy, Sky Comedy and will be produced by Tiger Aspect Productions. The Executive Producers are Ben Cavey and Sophie Clarke-Jervoise for Tiger Aspect Productions and Saskia Schuster for Sky. It will be directed by Jeremy Dyson and produced by Pippa Brown.
PSYCHOBITCHES came from the PLAYHOUSE PRESENTS… series championing innovative productions and original writing, and underlines Sky’s commitment to UK origination. This year BskyB will meet its target of investing £600 million a year in British programmes across its portfolio of channels.
PSYCHOBITCHES will air on Sky Arts 1 HD this autumn.
