Tim Roth, Christina Hendricks, Genevieve O’Reilly and Abigail Lawrie reprise their roles as filming commences on second series of Sky original production Tin Star

Thursday 31 May 2018

John Lynch (The Fall, Sliding Doors), Anamaria Marinca (The Missing, Mars) and Jenessa Grant (The Handmaid’s Tale) join the all-star line-up in the second series of Sky original production Tin Star, created by Rowan Joffe and produced by Kudos.

The first series was one of Sky Atlantic’s best-performing original shows, with a total audience of 1.7m per episode and more than 16 million downloads and views. The 10-part second series, which is currently filming in Calgary, Canada, is scheduled to air in 2019 exclusively on Sky and TV streaming service NOW TV in the UK and Ireland.

At the end of series one, which is currently available to watch on demand on Sky and NOW TV, Police Chief Jim Worth (Tim Roth), his wife Angela (Genevieve O’Reilly) and their daughter Anna (Abigail Lawrie) were left destroyed by the chaos that had followed Jim and his alcoholic alter ego Jack Devlin from the UK.

The second series picks up where we left our anarchic and unlikely hero, cut off in the remote Rockies wilderness with his grieving and shell-shocked family struggling to come to terms with their ordeal. Seeking refuge from her own parents, Anna is taken in by the God-fearing Nickel family, headed up by Pastor Johan (John Lynch) his wife Sarah (Anamaria Marinca) and daughter Rosa (Jenessa Grant), and hidden with the Ammonites - a religious community close to Little Big Bear.

However, the peaceful prairie family are harboring secrets of their own and it's not long before Anna is forced to seek her father’s help, as an altogether more hellish threat emerges. If Jim is to find a way to save his family, atone for his sins and be rid of Jack forever he must form an uneasy alliance in the battle for forgiveness…

Tin Star creator Rowan Joffe and executive producer Alison Jackson said: We are thrilled to be given a further opportunity to delve deeper into the characters we had such fun with in series one. A second series of Tin Star lets us build on the established world of Little Big Bear, but also gives the audience a glimpse of another intriguing community and provides us with a family who are strangely unsettling for our hero Jim Worth. We are delighted that John, Anamaria and Jenessa have joined our wonderful cast.”

Tin Star is produced by Kudos, the makers of Broadchurch, Humans and Gunpowder and part of The Endemol Shine Group. Executive producers are Alison Jackson, Diederick Santer, Rowan Joffe and Anna Ferguson for Sky. Both series of Tin Star have been commissioned for Sky by head of drama Anne Mensah and director of programmes for Sky entertainment UK & Ireland Zai Bennett, and are internationally distributed by Endemol Shine International and Sky Vision.
