Watch an Amazon adventure from the comfort of your sofa

At Sky, we are committed to building a sustainable business and making a positive contribution to the UK and Ireland. Our strategy focuses on doing the right thing across our business day to day, as well as inspiring people to take action in four areas through the Bigger Picture where we think we can make a big difference – tackling climate change, improving lives through sport, opening up the arts and raising the aspirations of young people in schools.

We chose climate change because we think it is one of the world’s greatest challenges and we have a unique opportunity to inspire people to take action through the millions of people who see our programmes. Twice a year in support of Sky Rainforest Rescue, our campaign with WWF to help save 1 billion trees in the Amazon, we organise Rainforest Week on Sky which launched on Monday. During this week we are showcasing a range of your favourite rainforest and environmental programmes including Lily Cole's Amazon Adventure which comes to Sky Arts1 HD at 8pm on 17 March. This short film sees Lily our Sky Rainforest Rescue ambassador, make her first journey to the Brazilian Amazon to see first-hand the projects that have been created to help tackle deforestation.  You can also catch all your other favourite rainforest and environmental programmes, such as David Attenborough’s Kingdom Of Plants on  Sky3D during 13,14,15 March at 5pm.

This is all just a part of what we’re doing to let people across the UK and Ireland know how amazing the Amazon is, and why they should help save it through our Sky Rainforest Rescue campaign in partnership with WWF.  We have now been running the Sky Rainforest Rescue, which aims to save a billion tress in the Amazon rainforest, for three years. Thanks to the support of everyone at Sky and our customers, we have already raised £2.8million, which Sky has matched, all of which is going to support work on the ground in the Brazilian Amazon.

Watching programmes on Sky is one of the many ways we can spread the message about protecting this important and amazing place but you can also do more. Like us on facebook, follow us on Twitter or sign up to our newsletter. For more more information visit sky.com/rainforestrescue
