Why it’s Amazing Amazon Week at Sky

The Amazon rainforest is amazing. Home to 1 in 10 of all the wild species on Earth, it’s a unique and irreplaceable ecosystem. But the Amazon also affects us here. Rainforests play a central part in helping regulate the climate and controlling levels of carbon dioxide, oxygen and rainfall – all things we rely on here in the UK and Ireland. Not to mention all those everyday products such as my morning coffee that have their origins in the Amazon. The Amazon rainforest is so important to both people and the planet and it’s crucial that we help keep it standing.

At Sky, we believe that climate change is one of the world’s biggest challenges and that we have the opportunity to inspire people to take action in order to make a real difference. My role at Sky is to set the environment strategy for the business. I focus on working across the business to make sure we are operating efficiently, saving energy and using resources wisely so that we deliver products and services with minimal environmental impacts. And on helping to harness our reach to help not only our customers, but all of you as well, to take action to protect the environment and tackle climate change.

Amazing Amazon Week is just one of the ways people at Sky can get involved in helping to protect 1 billion trees through Sky Rainforest Rescue, our partnership with WWF. During this week, as well as celebrating World Environment Day, we hope to bring to everyone at Sky a little bit of the inspiration. Here’s how our people can get involved this week:
