Winner announced: Emma Holmes is crowned The Face

24 girls. Three Fashion Icons. One Ultimate Contest. After eight fierce weeks, Emma Holmes from Team Naomi has been declared the winner of The Face.

Having seen off competition from thousands of other rival wannabe models, 18 year old Emma Holmes from Canterbury has landed the ultimate prize of becoming a brand ambassador for make-up giant Max Factor. As part of the much coveted prize Emma will appear in the brand’s nationwide Christmas campaign, for their best-selling False Lash Effect Mascara.

Commenting on her win Emma’s mentor Naomi Campbell said: "I am so proud of my Emma!   Not only is she uniquely beautiful, she's also bright, and I think you will have seen how much she developed throughout the series.    Becoming the face of Max Factor is an amazing jump start to what can be a very successful career for her.   I had a fun time mentoring her (sometimes more fun than others!) and know we'll stay in touch."

At the beginning of the series super model mentors Naomi Campbell, Erin O’Connor and Caroline Winberg chose four girls each to mentor and guide as members of their teams. Each week the teams competed in a series of real life fashion industry challenges working with some of Britain’s best known brands. As the mentors battled it out to try and keep their girls in the competition, each week another one of the model hopefuls left the contest with the decision of who falling to the supermodel whose team was triumphant in that week’s challenge.

Last night’s climactic showdown left the trio powerless in the decision-making process, with Max Factor Makeup Artist Caroline Barnes and Max Factor Creative Director Scott Bradley deciding who they thought was best for the role of ‘The Face’. The Max Factor judges asked all four finalists Emma Holmes (Team Naomi) Elaine Nturo (Team Erin), and Nadine Mendes and Eleanor Corcoran (Team Caroline) to pose for the camera and star in an online advert before deciding which three went through to the final catwalk.

In front of a live audience including their anxious team mentors, the final three then strutted their way down the runway at London’s One Mayfair in a last attempt to impress before Max Factor finally crowned Emma Holmes from Kent, ‘The Face’. The runner up’s were 19 year old Elaine Nturo from Bolton and 19 year student Eleanor Corcoran from Brentwood, Essex.

Emma’s modelling potential was recognised from the very beginning of the series with Naomi Campbell and Caroline Winberg both battling to have the feisty half Dutch, half Jamaican in their team. Naomi quoted that “Emma is a model of today” whilst Caroline admitted she had “never seen a girl who looks like that.

An excited Emma reflected: “I still don’t think it has quite sunk in. I never imagined in a million years that I would be in an advertising campaign for Max Factor at just 18 years old. I cannot thank Naomi enough for everything she has taught me. It may have been tough at times but I know that Naomi wanted me to always be the best that I could possibly be and I could not have done it without her. I can’t wait to find out what my future in the modelling world holds for me.

On deciding the winner, Caroline Barnes says; “When we saw the catwalk we were absolutely convinced that Emma was the best. She has a really original look with unique, strong eyes which is great for a mascara campaign. She brings something different and fresh to Max Factor.

Scott Bradley continues; “For us Emma seemed to have a real presence about her in the final. When she walked the catwalk you really stood up and paid attention. She’s very beautiful, but in a slightly unconventional way. Emma reminded Caroline and I of Marlene Dietrich who was one of Mr Max Factor’s first creations when he was working with all the film stars of the 1930s.

Emma Holmes appears in the Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara Campaign across outdoor sites in major cities from 25th November – 1st December and in print in December 2013.
