Jacqui Oatley announced as commentator for Sky Sports’ Barclays FA WSL coverage
The Sky Sports Barclays FA Women’s Super League talent line-up has welcomed the addition of experienced football broadcaster and commentator Jacqui Oatley MBE.
Oatley is the latest addition to the recently announced team of expert pundit Karen Carney, presenter Caroline Barker, reporter Lynsey Hooper and commentator Seb Hutchinson.
As a former player and FA qualified coach, Oatley has commentated on and presented several major football tournaments, including men’s and women’s FIFA World Cups and UEFA European Championships, as well as the Olympic Games.
An expert in her field and a valued member of the Sky Sports team, Oatley is a natural choice to lead the commentary for the Barclays FA WSL on Sky Sports.
Oatley said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been asked to commentate on Sky Sports’ coverage of the Barclays FA WSL. The new broadcast deal will provide us with a wonderful opportunity to offer in-depth technical analysis of the women’s game, as well as showcase the league to a whole new audience. The women’s game has developed an enormous amount since I first started covering it in 2004 and I’m excited to be involved in this new chapter which will see the league and players elevated to greater prominence”.
Award-winning broadcaster and journalist Jess Creighton will also present Inside the WSL, a comprehensive round up of all things Barclays FA WSL and women's football. Airing weekly from Thursday 9th September on Sky Sports Premier League, the half an hour show will review and preview matches, include short form storytelling and exclusive player interviews.
The Barclays FA Women's Super League has a new home this season on Sky Sports. Back in March, Sky Sports announced a three-year deal with the FA to become the primary broadcaster of the WSL from September 2021. The deal will see Sky Sports show at least 35 games exclusively live per season opening with Reading vs Manchester United on September 3rd.
In all, its set to be a football season to remember on Sky Sports. Sky will show 128 matches from the Premier League, with the top pick match every weekend. In the EFL, Sky Sports will show 138 matches all the way to the Playoffs as well as the best of the Carabao Cup. In Scotland, Sky Sports will show at least 48 matches from the Scottish Premiership.
Also, for the first time Sky Sports will show the best of German football. The Bundesliga will be live on Sky Sports for the next four seasons, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund pair Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham on show.
